Anna Kournikova to launch Showdown of Champions Kuala Lumpur

It's confirmed! Anna Kournikova will arrive in Kuala Lumpur to launch the yearly tennis exhibition 'Showdown of Champions 2009' this coming Monday.

Unfortunately, the organisers decided to keep Kournikova for themselves.

No invitation was given to HCFoo's Tennis Blog and sadly there's also no meet-the-fans session although they knew a lot of local fans would die to meet the tennis babe.

However, thanks to my involvement in politics years ago, I managed to sneak in and get some info regarding the launching by the Tourism Minister Dato' Dr. Ng Yen Yen and Kournikova.

WHO: Anna Kournikova
WHAT: Showdown of Champion 2009 Launch

WHEN: Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 (10.15 AM)

WHERE: Café Stelle (2nd floor) Couture Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur

Hope you can catch a glimpse of Kournikova!

To junior players, please contact your coach or Selvarajoo as Kournikova will be meeting you guys at the National Tennis Centre at 3 PM on the same day.

Do prepare some questions for her. Kournikova is very generous in answering questions especially from fans (as you can see from her website)

Who wants to watch exhibition match? Do you know the stadium wasn't full eventhough Federer, Borg and McEnroe were here last year?

I remember NST wrote an article last year saying that Showdown doesn't bring any good to local players. this event is just another way to waste the public fund!

aiyah...as long as can make money enough lar. People trash talk the event yet there are people who attend the stadiums.
Also tennis is a lame sport at the end of the day...boring compared to badminton, basketball or even football..yet people still follow mah

Wow! Why do all great tennis events happen in Malaysia and not here in the Philippines! :( You definitely deserve an invite!

talktennis, I love tennis.. so I blog about it. I'm not blogging for anyone ;)

Anon 4.35, no invitation how to go? :P

Anon 1.03, you don't like tennis then why you come to my blog? LOL I don't read NST so I don't care what the journalist wrote. For me any tennis events held here will benefit the players whether directly or indirectly.

WiLL, hope you can get some pictures. A few of my friends didn't turn up last minute.

roger F, I don't understand what you said.

Nathan, nah it's ok about the invite... I'm SURE the local media can do a good job in tennis coverage. IF the Philippines government supports tennis, I'm sure there'll be all these events.
